tan lines, Per over the pond, racing soon...Hey y'all,
Just thought I'd let you know/show you that the tan lines are getting better every day!!!
Yesterday I rode with Bruce and did some tempo work and that guy is a friggin machine! At first I was getting discouraged with how hard I had to work just sitting on his wheel, but then I remembered that he is one of the best time trialists in Canada!
Check out Per's blog for some European updates... looks like he's having fun and should be strong. Good luck buddy!
And I think racing starts in what??? 5 days!!! Glue up your tubs, oil your legs, trade the jack johnson for the techno, and get ready to rip!!! I'm so pumped! See you out there!
Cheers!
SA Shorts/tan, tt bike, and WINDHey, Hi, How ya doin?
So today was my first full day off... I don't count the weekend because those are supposed to be off. It's been pretty nice, unfortunately I've become a very good procrastinator in the last 20 years. I haven't opened a book yet... Oh well, my next final is still a week away. And I got 7.5/10 on my tape job yesterday in sport injuries, kind of disappointing.
But today I did manage to wear shorts and a jersey outside (see pic) and get a little bit of a tan!!! It'll come soon enough. And I went on the tt bike. Man it is friggin fast! I just need to dial it in a bit more and get my legs up to par with the bike. And I ordered my Zipp disc... so it should be here for next week and the first race (which, by the way, is in only 9 days!).
HOLY CRAP!!! IT WAS SO WINDY OUT TODAY! IT WAS UNREAL!!! Luckily it was all at my back on the way home... I was going 40+ at a recovery pace! RIDICULOUS!
And tonight I'm heading out to the track for the first time this year with Bruce and Mike... should be fun.
I also came up with a theory on George's crash in Paris-Roubaix... so nobody uses your standard race wheel, or bike for that matter, in this race. Is this because of performance, comfort, or just tradition? Well, Hincapie decided to do away with all of these and ride Bontrager's aeolus wheels. After having raced a full cross season, hard, on my race x lite carbons and having silly Hopping crash on them, I have no doubts that they are strong enough. But they are definitely stiffer than the average 36 spoke box-section wheel. Could this stiffness have translated into too much force on the steerer (which I still can't figure out of it was carbon or aluminum???) and cause it to snap? Now I don't know, but it's up for debate... if anyone actually reads this thing, feel free to comment...
AND... I swear, I'm almost done... I uploaded some pics, and I threw in a few from my cruise (over Christmas... long time ago...) and from my grandparents 50th anniversary party last weekend! Congratz Gma and Gpa, you guys are awesome!
Cheers!
SA New sponsors, long sunny rides, and a calendarWell, I just found out today that some other company thinks I might be kinda fast... ZIPP!!! Holy Crap, I can't believe it. I guess it's not a real sponsorship, but it's a better price than I was counting on, so I'm pretty pumped about that.
And today turned out to be a really nice today after yesterday's snow fiasco! So I put in a really solid ride with my dad! It always makes me feel good. So today has been pretty sweet all 'round!
And I just thought that I might let y'all know what my plans are for the year... so here they are so far:
...and then I don't know...but we'll see!
Cheers! SA Amstel Gold and snowSo how bout that race in Holland about some beer... Sounded very exciting in the end there, too bad I couldn't watch it and had to settle for the worded version... Maybe one day all those big races will make their way to tv over here. Steffen Wesseman seems to be the man, he attacked what? like 10 times and still ended up second. In the words of Frank Barone, "Holy crap!" And then, it seemed like Schleck was putting in a move for "team leader" Kroon to counter or was that really the plan the whole time? I don't know, but I do know that I want to watch this race sometime because I was on the edge of my seat fascinated by the words on the computer subconsciously dreaming they would come alive, that I was there, or even that I was racing!!! But then again, I'm still here in Alberta...
Speaking of Alberta though... snow much??? It's April, and it's snowing, again! This friggin sucks! To ride or not to ride? That is the question??? Anyhoo, I guess I should get'at'er!
Smell ya lata!

BEAST Fraps and riding!Hey all,
Well, I had shift #2 and I threw down some mad Frappucinos. I was reading my book for a while and my manager decided it would be a lot more fun if I threw on an apron and did some real work. So I learned how to run show behind the counter, bus, do dishes, make fraps, make bases for fraps. Wow, I sure did a lot! But it was so much fun! Come check me out on Tuesday night when I learn how to use the register! Now I just need my discount card so I can buy cheap stuff...
And now that the rest week is over and I've gained some weight, we'll head out for some good rides! If anyone wants to join me... Easter Monday:
Callingwood Starbuck's (69ave, 178st)
Coffee at 10:00am, riding at 10:30am ...and the countdown continues...14 days to the first race...info is up--check out www.bicisport.com for details!
SA out!
first shiftSo I had my first shift at Starbuck's... it was a lot of fun! I didn't have to do anything! All I did was read, be talked to, and taste coffee. It was pretty sweet! But unfortunately I have to work on Good Friday!!! What the heck is that?!?!? But it's a exciting! I just can't wait to get on bar! PALM SUNDAY, RoubaixWell today is Palm Sunday... So let's sing our praise:
Hail Jesus! You're my King!
Today is also the day of the 104th edition of the Paris-Roubaix. It was an excellent race with an awesome solo finish by a former yellow-jersey-wearer! Fabian Cancellara! You are the man and yet another Bjarne Riis prodigy. Bjarne, you are also the man! Unfortunately, George Hincapie of Discovery went down hard in a crash with a broken steerer tube... I was going to put something in here about the Harris Roubaix in Vancouver and hopefully some mad results from some Alberta buddies... but there's nothing out yet and it's time to post this sucker up. Maybe tomorrow... And the fourth item of the day was a long rainy road ride here in E-town. Me and my dad went out alone in the raing after church. A bold 7 degrees greeted us, but after a little tempo work I had to strip half my clothes as my Polar S725 showed a sunny 16 degrees! What a beautiful evening for the King's triumphal entry to his crucifixion! SA out, and please... stay dry A few more thoughtsI guess I'll add a few more thoughts today on cycling results and news as of late...
Enjoy the ride! Notta lottaSo I didn't want to be like everybody else with these MSN spaces, but it seems to be one of the best... maybe that's why everybody has 'em! So I pretty much gave up on the other blog. We'll see if we can make this thing a "sweet sweet song!!!"
And I don't think I'm going to transfer over all my blogs because I'm a little lazy for that... so we'll start now!
School is a little nuts because I've been slacking for the last couple weeks and I've just been really tired! Now I really gotta buckle down and study! A couple more big rides and then I get a break and can hit the books. Problem being that I problem will "hit" them, with my head, after my eyes close, and I'm fast asleep.
Today was my last day at United! It wasn't bad or sad or happy, it was just another crazy Saturday. And I get first Starbuck's training shift on Tuesday. I'm so excited!!! And I think I use the exclamation marks a little much... oh well. |
