Provincial road raceWell, the provincial road race went pretty much to plan and as expected. I tried to get into the early break which wasn't a go and spent a lot of energy in the first 15 minutes. Maybe that was my undoing, but it was a learning experience and what I wanted to do. I almost got dropped like 100 times, but suffered really bad and ended up racing pretty well. Unfortunately I got dropped on the long gradual climb of the second lap and couldn't chase back on this time. I rode in, but pretty much died and got passed by 8 people on the run-in. Jesse Collins put forth a great ride, as usual, only this time it was for himself and he pulled off a pretty good win! Congratz!
But now it's cyclo-cross time and I'm ready to go. This week is the first week of training and it's already fun! My bike still needs some tweaking... especially as it's still almost 20 lbs. Ah well, 1 month to go.
In the meantime, good luck to Cody and all the other Canucks at MTB Worlds and then to Flex, J Sparlz Sr, and LB and the rest of the Alberta contestants out East at Track Nationals!
WOOHOO!
SA Out!
ps. 2 weeks til school... Track??? that's silly... CYCLO-CROSS!!!!Yo Wut Up?!?!
So I did track provincials this last weekend. It all started at the same event one year ago. I didn't place great, but I raced well, in support of J Sparlz Sr (he probably would have won anyway, but that's not the point...). Track has still been on the back-burner, but after 3 mediocre meets this year it has been pushed back further yet. I don't know if the fields got stronger, I got weaker, or my training became even less track-able (haha, haha, hmm). So yeah, I guess I still keep doing it as some sort of masichist(sp?) but I don't think I'm very good at it. I should also have some pics soon as Ryan's dad got himself a fancy-schmancy new camera and took some shots of my apparently sufferingly sufferful sufferface.
But... with that in mind, this weekend is road provincials and I'll hope for a good ride there with a few teammates to top it off.
And then it's full-on into the ciclo-x season as school begins and my race to the worlds commences. Check out the pics of my new rig in progress...
And, I also have some new custom pro bike stands... 2 for sale with a possibility of making more. $60-70 I think.... good deal.... pics as well.
Over and out.
ps. don't forget to give me a call for your Tufo, Spooky, HED, and Zipp needs! www.transition-zone.com (tech specialist -- work in progress) I guess it has been a whileHeyall,
Sorry for the long wait... but I got home, had lots to write, didn't want to write anything, and now it's two weeks later. Let's just say that superweek wasn't quite the success I had been hoping for. But it was fun. And by Delta I started to feel really good. Unfortunately I didn't quite finish the crit and caught behind a big crash in the road race... but again I finished!! I've attached what pictures I did get... I'm in there somewhere.
Then I didn't really do much for the next 2 weeks. But I raced the Bici GP and felt surprisingly great. It was weird being in such a small field again. With 4 laps to go (the lap that the race blew...) I thought I flatted but by the time Andy got up to me and I realized I hadn't then it was too hard. But I put in a good 20min max effort with a couple guys... my bad. Dumb!
After the second easy week I went to Calgary for the Bowness hill climb where I felt like crap last year... this year I took a little better, maybe a little easy, but posted a 20" improvement on last year's time. It's all good. And in the crit, I again felt great. I covered lots of attacks and it felt like all the cross races I did well in last year... "easy". In the end I tried to go, like I did in cat 3 two years ago, but didn't have it and took the worst line through the last corner so I couldn't punch it again and I just sat up. Oh well... next time! But I did actually feel great!
Now I'm ready for some more fun track racing this weekend... Weee!!!
I also picked up my new cx rig... the Louis Garneau Steeple-x. The only problem is that they're so popular this year... but it is a nice frame. It's half built right now and I will get some in-the-process pics when the digi comes home this weekend! Yay, Carrie is coming home!!!!
I will also have pics of my new custom workstands... these rigs are sweet! Let me know if you are interested--$60 a piece--you might as well be stealing them.
